KARA in 2008: Activity Timeline

Following Sunghee's departure from the original lineup, Hara and Jiyoung joined Gyuri, Seungyeon, and Nicole. Official biographies identify this year as the transition to five members. This established the lineup that would continue through subsequent Korean releases and the Japanese debut period.

The new lineup released 1st Mini Album in July and Pretty Girl in December. The mini album contains five tracks, including Rock U, Baby Boy and Good Day.

Official discography lists 1st Mini Album as a July 25, 2008 release. Its five tracks run in this order: “Rock U,” “Baby Boy,” “What Is This?,” “Good Day,” and “Wait.” It presented the music of the five-member lineup, including newcomers Hara and Jiyoung, in one release.

In Japan, a domestic edition with translated lyrics followed on February 23, 2011. Its product information specifies the same audio content as the Korean edition, with no additional songs or DVD. The original Korean release should therefore be distinguished from the later opportunity for Japanese KAMILIA to explore the back catalog.

The second mini album has five tracks: “Honey,” “Pretty Girl,” “Yodel,” “My Darling,” and “I'm…(ing).” “Honey,” which later became a signature song, was already present here. Both the track count and versions differ from the special edition released the following year.

Official discography dates the Korean release to December 4, 2008. The Japanese edition followed in February 2011 with translated lyrics and a cover-art sticker, retaining the Korean edition's audio. Both “Pretty Girl” and “Honey” were later selected for BEST GIRLS.

On December 29, an attendee shared three photographs of the autographs they received. In a comment, the writer explained that the Daejeon signing allowed one member’s autograph per CD and that they bought three CDs.
