KARA debuted in Korea on March 29, 2007, and in Japan with Mister on August 11, 2010. Mnet describes their name as expressing a wish to bring joy through music.
KAMILIA combines KARA with familia, meaning family. It is an official KAMILIA-club name and a name the members use when addressing their KAMILIA.
Whether you began with the early songs or discovered the reunion, this feature offers a way into the records. Being a KAMILIA and enrolling in a paid membership scheme are discussed separately.
The debut line-up: Gyuri, Seungyeon, Nicole and Sunghee.
Sunghee left; Hara and Jiyoung joined for the five-member Rock U era.
After Nicole and Jiyoung left, Youngji joined for a new four-member chapter.
Gyuri, Seungyeon, Nicole, Jiyoung and Youngji returned in a new combination.
02 / JUNE 11
KAMILIA DAY began at Seoul’s Jamsil Indoor Stadium on June 11, 2011. At a free fan meeting after activities resumed, Hara announced June 11 as KAMILIA DAY, marking KARA’s gratitude to the KAMILIA who had waited.
OSEN’s next-day report recorded KAMILIA visiting from Japan, audience messages and the members’ tears. This was a reunion in which both sides could share what the time apart had meant.
June 11 remained a day for messages to KAMILIA. In 2019, Hara marked KAMILIA DAY in an Instagram Story, a connection documented even as the form of group activity changed.

On August 6, 2011, KARA met Japanese KAMILIA at Yokohama Arena. ORICON’s next-day report described Gyuri thanking KAMILIA for their trust and Nicole asking in Japanese for their continued support.
A fan meeting cast KARA as award recipients and KAMILIA as the audience. Rice wreaths sent by the members to KAMILIA also made news: the performers became the gift-givers.

At the first solo Tokyo Dome concert by a K-pop girl group on January 6, 2013, Pia reported an arena filled with pearl-peach penlights. Gyuri compared the sight to stars: the audience helped create the concert’s landscape.

The relationship continues in the recordings. These three songs offer ways to explore gratitude and reunion, while keeping release dates and recording histories distinct.
The URAKARA theme appeared on the Japanese third single Jet Coaster Love, released on CD April 6. OSEN reported the Korean version’s first performance at the June 11 Seoul meeting.
All five members contributed lyrics to MOVE AGAIN’s opening songs for KAMILIA. In the release Q&A, Seungyeon described combining their writing, while Jiyoung recalled the connection to her part in Rock U.

On June 11, 2022, five members shared 15th-anniversary photographs on social media, also tagging Hara. This KAMILIA DAY post preceded the formal comeback announcements; its publication date is recorded separately.
At the February 23 Osaka matinee, Gyuri spoke of wanting KARA to keep growing through their fifteenth and twentieth anniversaries and beyond. The official report, published March 6, preserves that hope.
At the March 3, 2023 Yokohama KAMILIA-meeting finale, KAMILIA welcomed KARA back and shared parent-and-child messages. ORICON recorded Gyuri’s gratitude for KAMILIA still gathering after the years apart.
KARASIA on August 18, 2024 celebrated Youngji’s tenth debut anniversary and staged Hello with six microphones. In 2025, KARASIA 6th brought four shows to Yokohama and Kobe, adding new meetings to the shared history.

During a song of thanks, the audience can answer with gratitude of its own. Raised cards, messages on screen and anniversary cakes reveal another part of this shared story: what KAMILIA gave, and how the members received it. Surprise-board projects are led by KAMILIA as gifts to KARA.
A gift of messages
At the free Seoul fan meeting, messages from KAMILIA moved the members to tears. OSEN reported Jiyoung’s gratitude for the KAMILIA and members who cared for her, and tears among KAMILIA visiting from Japan.
June 11 was declared KAMILIA DAY, and the members received messages from KAMILIA.
This day in the timelineA surprise made with cards
At the small members-only meeting around KAMILIA DAY, KAMILIA raised cards spelling “카라♥” during Dear Kamilia. An audience of about 400 answered KARA’s song for them with a visible expression of love.
The meeting took place on June 10; eToday published its report on June 11. It also recorded the members’ happiness at sharing the occasion with KAMILIA again. The article does not describe tears or a specific member’s response to the cards.
This day in the timelineEvent coverage + a matinee attendee account
The school-themed KAMILIA event’s “club activities” became a live set. White paper held up during Ima, Okuritai “Arigatou” formed “KARA♡.” CDJournal reported tears from all five members, continuing into Jet Coaster Love.
A matinee attendee described MC Masayuki Furuya rehearsing the paper cue while KARA were offstage. During the song, KAMILIA-message photographs appeared and the cue turned the audience white. This took place at Yokohama in June, separately from January’s Tokyo Dome concert.
An evening-show account by ezRinger describes white A3 sheets, with KARA logos and signatures on the back, handed out at entry and raised overhead on a screen cue during the song. The writer also recalls the audience singing Ima, Okuritai ‘Arigatou’ from beginning to end, adding their voices to the paper display.

Around 4:45, the video shows audience members holding white paper together; late close-ups show the members’ faces. The lettering’s visibility varies with the camera angle, so the “KARA♡” display is also explained through contemporary reporting.
The upload identifies KAMILIA SCHOOL but does not specify matinee or evening. The official product page below describes the DVD of that day’s second show.

Published official report + contemporary coverage
As KARA prepared to sing Ima, Okuritai “Arigatou” in the encore, a large “WE♥KARA” banner appeared in the audience behind the stage. Messages to individual members filled the screen, returning the song’s gratitude to its singers.
The official report carried by BARKS records Jiyoung’s surprise that the audience had known about the plan, her thanks, and the members singing through tears. ORICON also reported the banner and emotional performance. BARKS identifies its text as a supplied official report.
An on-the-day blog by Igapapa also preserves the surprise as seen through a cinema live viewing. The writer describes close-ups of the five tearful members after the banner appeared, including Nicole turning away. This is a KAMILIA recollection of watching the same moment on screen, distinguished from an account inside the Kobe venue.

This design was supplied as the KAMILIA-led surprise board raised during this scene. The Korean message “영원히 함께해요” is accompanied by the Japanese “ずっといっしょ♥” — together forever. This board carries a separate message from the large “WE♥KARA” audience banner.

Around 2:08, the banner and all five members appear together. Around 3:01, a closer view makes “By ALL FANS, ALL STAFF” readable, showing the message’s attribution to KAMILIA and staff.

On-the-day coverage
At Gyuri, Seungyeon and Hara’s first Japanese fan meeting as a trio, the screen showed KAMILIA holding messages of support. ORICON’s account of the two-show day describes Seungyeon repeatedly wiping away tears as she watched.
A support video brought together KAMILIA’s faces and messages.
This day in the timelineKAMILIA-led board project / KAMILIA-provided image
On August 25, 2024, KAMILIA organized a surprise-board project for Osaka day two of the fifth Japanese KARASIA tour. At Asue Arena Osaka, the final show of their first Japanese tour in nine years, KAMILIA sent KARA the message “Thank you for the happy times!”
The board places “행복한 시간을 고마워요” and the Japanese “幸せな時間をありがとう!” against a blue sky. KAMILIA used their own words to return thanks for the time shared with KARA on stage.
In an August 25 X post, a KAMILIA participant who says they helped with preparations celebrates seeing the boards raised. The post does not establish the song or individual members’ reactions.

A KAMILIA supplied this design as the board raised at Osaka day two on August 25, 2024. Its footer reads “KARA THE 5TH JAPAN TOUR 2024 ‘KARASIA’ 08.25 OSAKA.”

A celebration prepared by KAMILIA
Gyuri announced the publicly chosen KAMILIA-club name GRACE and shared a handwritten letter at its Japanese launch meeting. KAMILIA answered with a cake, bouquet and placards prepared in advance, according to JoongAng Ilbo.
Individual-career recordA cake and the audience’s congratulations
Before her July 24 birthday, a surprise cake left Seungyeon tearful as the audience applauded warmly. Nikkan Sports also recorded her wish to improve her Japanese and acting, and her gratitude for the encouragement of Japanese KAMILIA.
The article does not name the cake’s organizer. This is an account of a shared birthday celebration and the audience’s supportive applause, rather than a confirmed KAMILIA-organized cake project.
Individual-career recordA secondary roundup of KAMILIA posts
A post-event blog roundup describes a surprise at the second Tokyo show of NICOLE Fan Con 2024: the audience raised slogans distributed by Alway Smile during the encore. It records the continuation of coordinated KAMILIA messages on a solo stage.
The author explicitly states they did not attend Tokyo. This is a secondary KAMILIA account, not an eyewitness report; the slogan’s exact wording and unverified reactions such as tears are not supplied.
